Kolkata Knight Riders Name Dinesh Karthik as new Captain

Two-time IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders have named Dinesh Karthik as the captain for the forthcoming version of the competition. The 32-year old will supplant KKR's long-serving skipper Gautam Gambhir who joined Delhi Daredevils after the Shah Rukh Khan-possessed side picked not to hold his administrations.

Karthik was picked by KKR for Rs 7.4 crore amid the IPL super closeout. Karthik and Robin Uthapa were the best two contenders to lead the men dressed in purple and gold and Uthapa has been named as karthiks deputy.

Karthik incorporated 361 runs at a avg of 36.1 in IPL last season when he played for Gujarat Lions a year ago. After KKR CEO Venky Mysore made the declaration, the new captain Karthik stated, "KKR has done well reliably over the most last ten years. The group has an incredible inheritance. I am extremely cheerful and respected to lead this side. We have a decent mix of youth and experience. We are anticipating work under mentor Jacques Kallis. All the foreign players are decent as well. I will endeavor to take the group forward from where Gautam Gambhir left."
